I always thought an aesthetic similar to that of Casshern Sins or even Chainsaw Man could fit the somber tone Berserk has. A Yamauchi/Umakoshi take on the series would do wonders imo
Was not expecting the Otomo homage

Wait, the meme became true. Where is Kraker when you need him?
Almost 10 years old lol. *Ehem* Oh I get it now, Kou is the Yoshinari 'Aniki' hence Aninari.
I didn't know it was him, now it's pretty obvious
Maybe it's just me overthinking, but Maru's face at 0:20 has a quite much Katsuhiro Otomo style vibe, especially the nose and the way the eyes are designed resemble a lot his work on AKIRA, the manga even more than the anime.

Which would make a lot of sense, after all, according to what I've read Heaven's Delusion's author major inspiring artist is the very Otomo

I'm tempted to say I'd like to have the 97 character design, but tbh I think the designer for the golden age movies (who is... also Dororo's character designer, I believe?) would still fit perfectly. But that hypotetical adaptions need not to have that overly bright and light general aesthetic and possibly avoid abominable CGI (those puppets with plate mail bending like fabric.... -shivers-)

would it be fair to call this a pseudo-itano circus?
I wouldn't say so because the distinguishing factor of that sort of cut is the projectiles following a specific target somewhere on-screen in a radial fashion. This is just missiles with smoke trails with the thing they're following being strictly in the foreground of the shot.

Tagging artist unknown as it looks like most of this is LO only.

From the sheet music at 0:18, the piece that Paul practices is the Impromptu in E-flat major by Schubert. And it's really good that the right notes were played in this clip.

Confirmed from timesheet for Cut #196 (0:04 - 0:06)

He also handles some cuts before and afterward.

Those face angles are really amazing

Up to :20 is Takaya, confirmed on Ken Suetake's BBS board.

Chai did the cut at 0:24 (and probably the 3 cuts right after it too)

0:27 - 0:28 Charles Badiller (?, night creature breathing, Sypha)
0:29 - 0:32 Patrick Stannard (night creature choking)
0:33 - end Spencer Wan

Per Spencer's comments below (thanks Spencer!) Charles Badiller drew the majority of the character layout for this sequence, but it wasn't followed closely by Mua

0:26 - 0:32 They are confirmed to be from Kathan.
That’s the same tweet linked by Armando above. Spencer wasn’t specific enough about which cuts Kathan did, hence the presume for those 3, even if they’re likely Kathan’s

0:26 - 0:27 was Kathan and 0:29 - 0:30 was Patrick

Thank you for the correction! If I understand your timestamps correctly, then the cut of the night creature preparing to breathe fire is Kathan, and the one of it choking on the fire is Patrick? Is the cut of Sypha between those two Charles, or someone else? (and I'm assuming you mean Mua didn't follow his character layout very closely?)

Only the shot of Sypha breathing is Kathan's. Patrick drew the night creature breathing fire and choking on fire. And yes, they almost never fully followed what we sent them back then. I can't blame them for it. They didn't have nearly the time or resources they needed, and they weren't happy about us jamming ourselves into the middle of the animation process.
