I was surprised to find Tokumaru's exact effect shapes in the second cut. This would've been among his earliest genga credits, within a year of his starting at least. He has douga credits from as early as 1994 so I guess he had a lot of time to develop his style. With that said, the rest of his credits on GTO haven't produced anything that notable, but this being a non-action show, there haven't been many scenes featuring effects animation- which he was clearly prioritizing from the start.
