Artist: yoshinobu inano

Fans call him Inanon. Was credited as Yoichi Akino in Ideon and some other works.

Was part of Studio Bird (not to be confused with Akira Toriyama's Bird Studio). Studio Bird was formed by Yoshinori Kanemori in the mid seventies. The other main member was Kanemori's contemporary, Hiroshi Oikawa. They are hardly ever credited as Studio Bird. Most 80s works that have Inano's involvement also have Kanemori and sometimes Oikawa as well. They were instrumental in a lot of 80s anime (esp. from Toei), like Galaxy Express 999, Queen Millenium, Gegege no Kitaro, Stop!! Hibari-kun, Wingman, Patalliro, etc.

He has a distinctive style both in character animation and effects animation. Leans toward fairly realistic figures and motion, but doesn't draw in many details. Can easily identify his scenes from the appearance of supporting cast / mob characters or the occasional uncorrected cut (e.g. post #21438). Ambiguous, blobby effects are fairly common (e.g. last cut of post #29999).

  • Main animator for Road Blaster
  • character designer for Uchuu no Senshi, very representative of his aesthetic
Recently been doing CGI stuff. Was (is?) a teacher at Kobe Design College.
