Terminology: wakame shadows

ワカメ影

Established by Mr. Masahito Yamashita and others in the 1980's.

In the representation of metallic luster mainly in robot animation and SF anime, BL shadow came to be called like this from how to draw like a seaweed (wakame, 若布). In addition to shadows, similar techniques may be used for highlights and light effects.

Although it was not seen much since the 2000s, it is an expression that can only draw its charm by 100% with 2D animation, and boasts its popularity still with its unique color and powerfulness that brings forth.
