Looks like 9 images is the maximum you can put in one set.
You can copy a set and you can crop all images in a set simultaneously.
You can also add images to comments, e.g. post #20551
It seems animated GIFs are converted to jpgs. Strangely, that's not even the initial frame of the gif. Oh well.
