Might have figured it out. The wiki says he did the explosions in the cut before this, though there's no source for that. Will upload that cut when i have time.
Im interested in the artist of this cut, Osamu Tanabe. He's not well represented here, but I like all his stuff here. Only other thing I could find is a MAD on Catsuka (http://www.catsuka.com/player/mad_Osamu_Tanabe) of very low video quality.
He's really good. Has been working in Ghibli for a long time, but since it's mostly with Takahata he doesn't end up being too prolific. He was the line director and the main responsible for the visual style of Kaguyahime along with Kenichi Konishi. Here's a cool short he animated: http://vimeo.com/70561686
